Observe, do and learn…expand and enhance your practical knowledge of winemaking on the east coast. Making quality wine on the east coast requires professionals who are able to anticipate and adjust for variable grape harvest and a variety of challenges in the winery, constant adjustment and adaptation to a variable and often less than ideal climate, changing consumer preferences and constant global competition. Learn solid principles and practices for immediate application in the winery. Discuss the latest enology and viticulture research. Gain “hands-on” instruction/practice and advice from industry experts, test your own understanding and exchange information with instructors and your fellow professionals and students.
These sessions will be fun and informal but structured and will run for 2-3 hours per session depending on topics. Persons interested should possess some basic knowledge of winegrowing. There will be sensory analysis and all participants in these sessions should be at least 21 years old. But those motivated individuals interested in the applied and day-to-day operation of a commercial winery are also invited to sign up.
Winery classes will be held at Herrera Vineyards located in Dobson, NC.
There are six planned sessions to run on consecutive Saturdays, February 18-March 24, 2012
