Announcing "Focus on Sustainable Urbanism" Intensive Program - Chicago

Foresight Design Initiative, a leader in sustainability education programs, and Farr Associates, one of the nation’s foremost ecologically-minded architecture and design firms present “Focus on Sustainable Urbanism,” a ten-day intensive that explores sustainable infrastructure, livable community design, smart growth, and the public realm.  Participants will learn from field visits, lectures, discussions, and hands-on studio projects with national expert Doug Farr, author of the groundbreaking book Sustainable Urbanism and founding chair of the USBGC LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Core Committee.

The Focus on Sustainable Urbanism program offers participants a rare opportunity to learn from leading practitioners, envision a public housing redevelopment project, and understand how sustainable urbanism principles can be scaled to solve complex urban social and environmental problems.

The program is ideal for (but not limited to) graduate students and professionals in the fields of architecture, planning, design, and public policy. Exceptions will be made for participants who are not from these backgrounds but express a deep interest in learning about how sustainable urbanism brings together the value of connectivity, density, and building performance.

A small group of up to 16 individuals will be admitted, and GBCI credits are offered.
