Event Description

The next webinar from the Center for Sustainable Tourism will be Tuesday, April 24 at 10 am EST. This free webinar will discuss alternative fuel usage for ground transportation and its relationship to tourism. In addition to discussing alternative fuel technology, we will also discuss how attractions and accommodations can and are becoming a part of the alternative fuel movement. From electric vehicle charging stations at attractions and accommodations to using cooking oil to make biodiesel, there are a number of ways the tourism industry can play an active role in helping travelers get there greener.

The webinar will feature two guest experts:

Stan Cross, BioWheels RTS Co-Founder, Principal of Advocacy and Outreach. Stan also serves as Education Director of Warren Wilson College’s Environmental Leadership Center. He has proven education, communication and sustainability implementation experience; and maintains a network of national sustainability leaders. In 2007 he was selected as the North Carolina Environmental Educator of the Year and in 2010 he received the North Carolina Coastal Federation’s Pelican Award for Outstanding Partnership.

Lyle Estill, Piedmont Biofuels Co-founder, Author.
Lyle Estill helped to co-found Piedmont Biofuels in 2005 and has managed finance, recruitment, real estate, facilities, construction, and sales for Piedmont Biofuels. He currently publishes the widely read Energy Blog, which has been adapted into a book by New Society Press. His first book, Biodiesel Power, the Passion, People, and Politics of the Next Renewable Fuel is in its second printing. His second book, Small Is Possible; Life in a Local Economy, appeared in 2008, and his third book, Industrial Evolution; Local Solutions for a Low Carbon Future appeared in bookstores in the spring of 2011.

If your tourism or hospitality business seeks to become part of the alternative fuel movement, or you are just interested in learning about electric vehicles and biofuels, this webinar cannot be missed!
