Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a report outlining a strategy to meet the nation’s renewable fuel mandate. This mandate, the congressionally-adopted Renewable Fuels Standard, requires the use of 36 billion gallons of renewable transportation fuel by the year 2022.
Following the release of the report, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that the agency would hold public meetings throughout the country to receive public comments about the strategies included in the report. Two meetings have been scheduled for North Carolina:
* Wednesday, 27 October at the Farm Bureau offices in Raleigh from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
* Wednesday, 3 November at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (Time TBD)
Representatives from the Biofuels Center will be participating in both of the meetings.
For more information about the meetings please contact Alicia Bridges with the USDA Raleigh office at Alicia.Bridges@nc.usda.gov.
