Comment by Judy Anne Wagner on April 7, 2011 at 7:09pm Well this is exciting. Not sure if being irish has anything to do with my love of GREEN, but my dream is to see an affordable Green Community, with APTS, TOWNHOMES, Patio Sized Homes & even small Estate homes all using wind power, and energy star certified for starters. Walkability would be exceptional as well. Thanks for connecting local Greenies, Adrian!

Comment by Adrian Tait on April 7, 2011 at 3:05pm The April 12th meeting of Green Drinks Boone will be hosted by Blue Ridge Electric and will focus on several new energy efficiency projects. In particular Blue Ridge Electric will be sharing information about a new initiative with local libraries in Watauga and surrounding counties in their service area. The project is focused on helping households learn more about their electricity consumption by tracking usage with a Kill A Watt EZ electricity monitoring device. Blue Ridge Electric has purchased a number of the devices and is providing them to local libraries so they can lend them out to patrons much like a book or other library items. Details of the project and information about the participating libraries will be shared at the April 12th meeting.
The event will be held Tuesday evening April12th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at “Crave” located at 203 Boone Heights Drive across from the Wellness Center in Boone.
Green Drinks Boone is an informal social networking organization that hosts monthly events for anyone interested in “green” activities in the High Country. It’s a great way to catch up with local people involved in “green” services and make new “green” contacts. Green Drinks Boone is among 15 other North Carolina communities and 750 cities worldwide that host monthly gatherings of sustainably-minded people who meet to informally discuss green business, green services and green activities. The Boone network organization has been meeting since 2008.
