
Solar power has come to Alexander County in a big way with the recent installation of a “solar farm” added to the EnergyUnited power grid. The facility was unveiled on Friday, Nov. 12, during a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Situated on about 8.2 acres of land, the field of solar panels contains 2,224 modules which can provide up to 1.1 megawatt, or 1,100,000 watts of power, according to Frances Yuhas, sales manager with Sun Edison. This is enough to power about 150 average-size homes.
