From High Country Press: "ASU is recognized as “leading the green revolution” in a new report released by the federal Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) that highlights best practices in six colleges and universities in Appalachia that are environmentally sustainable and foster education-community partnerships to support local economic growth...
According to research sponsored by ARC, energy efficiency investments could create 77,000 new jobs in Appalachia by 2030 while cutting projected energy use by 24 percent, resulting in energy savings of more than $21 billion in the region and 70,000 new jobs in the renewable energy sector.
Additional research reveals that more than 1,500 community and technical college students are enrolled in renewable energy courses and 1,700 students are enrolled in energy efficiency courses in Appalachia..."
