Biofuels Center of North Carolina Now Hiring Director of Communications and Public Affairs.

The Biofuels Center of North Carolina seeks a visionary, creative, and experienced professional to position the Center and biofuels statewide and beyond with key constituencies and audiences through clear messages, targeted strategies, varied communicational formats, and trust.  Established by the Legislature in 2007 to implement North Carolina’s Strategic Plan for Biofuels Leadership, the Center is a private non-profit corporation permanently funded by the Legislature.   The Center is located on North Carolina’s Biofuels Campus, in Oxford.

About the Biofuels Center of North Carolina

The Center of North Carolina has the long-term task of developing a large-scale biofuels industry sector to reduce the state's dependence on imported petroleum. North Carolina’s Strategic Plan for Biofuels Leadership sets the goal of replacing 10% of the petroleum imported into North Carolina with biofuels locally grown and produced.

The Position

The Director, Communications and Public Affairs will perform senior level work and leadership in five broad areas, strategically interrelated but necessarily different in required approach and activities.

  • Identify, analyze, and synthesize content from and about the Center and the biofuels sector, statewide and beyond.
  • Develop strategies, messages, activities, and partners with which to shape and lucidly communicate that content.
  • Develop and oversee specific print, electronic, and other format materials that represent the Center, North Carolina’s biofuels endeavor, and the biofuels sector.
  • Convey and represent the Center’s state mandate, development strategies, and outcomes.
  • Create and maintain a highly integrated framework of messages, materials, communicational strategies, and targeted public affairs.
