The Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute is seeking an administrative assistant to manage the office, assist the Executive Director, and support obligations from recent funding sources. We are interested in an organized, dedicated individual who is passionate about sustainability. Organization: the Blue Ridge Sustainability Institute is a 3-year old non-profit focused on promoting actionable items for environmental, economic, and social sustainability in Western North Carolina.
Knowledge, Skills, Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, organized, able to work independently, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interest in sustainability issues. High integrity and attention to detail is a must. Should be available to start by September 1st.
Additional skills strongly desired: ability to work with teams, communications/PR experience, budgeting/financial skills, ability to multi-task, strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
Essential Functions: manage office function and appearance, event management, manage organizational correspondence, assist Executive Director with communications and scheduling, assist Energy Campaign Manager with communications, energy and budget analysis, scheduling and reporting.
Reports to: Executive Director
Compensation/Benefits: Independent contractor position with compensation at $15/hr with no benefits. Required work hours: 30-40 hours/week, flexible scheduling during standard business hours, Monday – Friday.
