Marshall McLuhan's famous quote 'the medium is the message' hits the nail on the head in regard to Eco Arts Awards driving mission to keep ecology top of mind in as many people as is possible. It seems in our overly electronic culture it isn't enough to "see" copious amounts of liter strewn along our roads with our own eyes, we need to see it in a video or perhaps in a photograph to impact us? Perhaps its simply a numbers game as more people might "see" the photograph than walk down any particular street to see the amount garbage thrown out of car windows. I believe it is safe to say that different mediums are going to effect different people in different ways. At the same time it should also be safe to say that we need to come to grips with some hard realities as a global community, as such we need to use every single medium and means we can muster to help us change our behavior. Eco Arts Awards is humbled by the quality of entries we are receiving in all of its categories. There is a true outpouring of creative energy from artists all over the world who want to express their love, their concern, their hopes for our planet. We can't wait to share their messages with you.
Eco Arts Awards is based in Asheville, N.C. and we can not think of better home base for these awards.
We need as much help as we can get to promote our winning entries, so any and all suggestions are welcome!
Our deadline for entries is January 31st. We will be announcing our finalists February 21st via our newsletter.
