Vestas Wind Systems will likely reveal this week details of its plan to lay off as many as 1,600 workers, mainly in Colorado, because of the lack of action in Congress over the renewable-energy Production Tax Credit. The company had warned in January that it would likely trim its U.S. workforce unless Congress renews the PTC. "It certainly should be a wake-up call to the folks who've been holding the production tax credit as a political hostage," said Franz Matzner, associate director of government affairs for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
